The choice of bodystyles and configurations for the new Transit is the largest ever offered by Ford. Short-, medium- and long-wheelbase vans in low, medium and high roofs and front or rear wheel drive are complemented by front or rear wheel drive chassis cabs and a range of double chassis cabs and Transit buses. Both 5- and 6-speed transmissions are available, mated to 6 different common rail TDCi diesel engine variations: 2.2TDCi with 85, 110 and 130PS and 2.4TDCi with a choice of 100, 115 and 140PS. All models feature disc brakes all-round as standard, as well as novel firsts such as configurable unlocking and a self-charging key fob. Overall, the vehicle has raised the bar when it comes to incorporating car-like interior functionality and design in a commercial vehicle. Servicing intervals of 50,000 kms on the new 2.4 TDCi, twin batteries on rear wheel drive models and improved fuel economy are among the other notable improvements. The new Transit is now available from Ford dealers. Motoring Life |
