Known as the Transit XXL, this monster is based on two short wheelbase Transit Tourneos which have been joined together by Ford's Dunton Technical Centre. It's 7.4 metres long, has two full sliding doors on each side and seats eight people - including the driver, who gets a leather-trimmed, seven-way adjustable Captain's Seat. Pretty much all the components in the XXL are standard Transit, including the 128bhp 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi turbo diesel engine. A lot of strengthening had to be added to stop the thing folding in half, so to cope with the extra weight the brakes and suspension have both been uprated. The list of equipment includes satellite navigation, Bluetooth capability, a fancy audio system, a heated windscreen and - well, here's a mercy - rear parking sensors. The Dunton team also intends to install an entertainment system with a DVD player, games consoles and individual monitors.
